2017 UCI MTB World Cup – Round 2 – Fort William
What a weekend!
We would be lying if we said we liked the rain and the midges in Fort William, but either way, the Fort Bill World Cup was an awesome weekend for us!
On Finals day, all the riders were a bit concerned about the condition of the new woods section. The extremely changeable weather conditions over the last few days had made it super sticky and the slick roots hidden beneath the mud didn’t help at all. But in the end, our luck held and the lack of rain on race day made the Scottish show even better!
Myriam Nicole started the day in the best way possible! After missing this race due to injury for the last two years. You all probably remember her terrifying crash during the 2015 BDS, which was her last time on this track.
It has been a mentally draining weekend for her, she fought her fears and finished 2nd and she’s now in the same position in the overall!
In the Elite Men Category, Remi Thirion got the redemption he was looking for after the disaster of Lourdes! 8th place in qualifications, Remi laid down a clean but fast run to end up on the box for the first time of his career in Scotland!
5th place for Remi and some good points for the overall, he’s now 10th!
George Brannigan made the same mistake as Aaron Gwin, going off track before the long pedaling section, but still landed in 15th place!
Finally, after only two weeks back riding because of his collarbone injury, Thibaut Ruffin ended up 44th!
Unfortunately, Gaëtan Ruffin sprained his ankle badly during Friday practice and had to sit this round out.
All these great results achieved by the riders gave us the edge in the team competition and we ended up Team of the Day!
After Lenzerheide (Switzerland) last year, this is now the 2nd time in the team’s history that we have won this trophy! Everyone on the team is hungry to get back up on the top step as soon as possible!
Now we’re setting up in Leogang for another World Cup and getting ready for another great weekend of racing!
Thanks for your support and see you all soon!
