Pompon Does It Again!
Seven days after her win in Andorra, Myriam Nicole takes another incredible World Cup win!
She came into the 5th round of the DH World Cup with more pressure than usual because she was only five points behind Tracey Hannah in the overall. She knew she had to be consistent and have a good race in Switzerland to stay in the fight for the leader’s jersey.
She came second in qualifying which meant she started her final run full of confidence.
Then she crossed the finish line with the best time and even the last women down the track and fastest qualifier Rachel Atherton couldn’t go faster! This was now her second World Cup win in a row and meant she took the lead in the overall!
For the first time in her career, she has the leader’s jersey, and it’s also the first time for a ride on the team to have the number 1 plate! What a day!
Everything is incredibly proud and happy for her! MERCI POMPON for yet another amazing weekend!
George was pretty nervous for his final run and had another crash in the sketchy first rock garden. He ended up 40th, which doesn’t reflect how fast he was on track the whole week!
The supposed ‘bike park’ track turned into one of the most unpredictable courses of the year. After crashing in finals at the last two World Cups, Thibaut‘s goal was simply to stay on his bike. He finished 39th!
Gaëtan got his best qualifying result of the year (34th) and had hoped to do the same in finals. Disappointingly for him, he crashed near the end of his run while being top 40 at the three first splits, eventually coming down 65th.
We now have three weeks to recover and to get ready for the second half of the season with French Champs then Mont-Sainte-Anne World Cup coming next.
Remi Thirion won’t be there, but his recovery is going well, he went for his first road ride since his crash yesterday! We can’t wait to have him back at the races.
We would like to say THANK YOU to our partners, friends, family, and fans; we know it wouldn’t be possible without you!
